Borderlands Zombie Island DLC
Enjoying killing zombies in L4D 2, but expected a bit more...flair? Well, have no fear, The Island of Dr. Ned (not his totally not made up brother Dr. Zed) DLC lands today for the Xbox and PS3 and brings what you need. And by what you need, I totally mean awesome visuals, new levels and zombie faces being punched into exploding bits. Oh yeah, watch out for the bird. The visuals of the levels really is quite stunning; although you can see where they re-used bits. The price of the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned DLC for the Xbox/PS3 is 800/$9.99. No word yet on when owners of the PC game will get the DLC.
In a semi serious manner, Gearbox has responded to everybody who was disappointed by the ending in Borderlands.
We went through lots of different iterations on what the ending of the game was,†said Helquist. “We ultimately ended up with what you get to play. We didn’t know how people were going to react to it. Obviously the reaction hasn’t been as strong as we had hoped [laughs]. That’s something we’re going to be keeping in mind as we do new things, whether it’s download content or other games in the future. We’re gonna think more about it and try to get more user feedback before the game comes out so we can ensure that we’ll have endings that you guys like in the future.â€
Scary, vagina faced monsters aside, I thought the ending was clever. It could have used some more work though, the last half of the game was very quick and was pretty much hurry up and get through everything. I do like the fact that they are open to many possibilities of DLC (such as the Island of Dr. Ned) and they can continue to explore the mythology of the vault.
Standalone 250 GB PS3 Slim debut Nov 3
It seems that Sony has been busy since the release of their 120GB PS3 Slim (with one million sold in three weeks). There have been rumors of a 250GB PS3 System, but it turned out to be a bundle. Now Sony has announced that the standalone 250GB PS3 Slim is coming out Novemeber 3. The bigger hard drive capacity will set you back $349.99 and will have all of the same features of the 120GB PS3 slim model.
The $100 increase in price will once again make the PS3 the most expensive console. At least the PS3 allows (even encourages) the ability for the user to put in a larger hard drive. As opposed to the Xbox 360 being locked to whatever expensive part they want to sell you (Hello $50 for 64 MEGABYTES of flash storage). For more information on how to upgrade your PS3 Slim HDD (hard drive), go here.
Left 4 Dead “Crash Course” DLC on Sept. 29
Valve has announced that the Crash Course DLC will be coming down next Tuesday, September 29th. The new L4D campaign, Crash Course, will take place between No Mercy and Death Toll. It is meant to tie both of them together ( I always wondered how the hell did thet got to Death Toll myself). Of course the new L4D DLC campaign adds both versus and Co-Op play.
The sad part is that in about seven weeks the sequel to L4D will be coming out. L4D 2 comes out on November 17th and brings with some melee weapons (along with new characters and scenery). The L4D 2 demo will be released on October 17th for both Xbox and PC. There will be multiplayer with the L4D 2 demo, but nobody knows (other than Valve that is) which of the ten new melee weapons players can try out.
What a Wonderful, Zombie filled World
This is quite the montage of Left 4 Dead gameplay action set to Louis Armstrong's What a Wonderful World. The creator did a great job of matching up L4D footage to the "appropriate" parts of the song; Rainbows indeed. Give the video a watch and laugh your ass off! (if the flesh eating zombies don't try to eat it first that is).
